Fit to Move

Racing to Raise Awareness for Parkinson's

What am I doing?

Hi! My name is Maya Brandt, and I’m a senior at Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill. This summer, I built a B-Spec race car from a Honda Fit to race in SCCA with a mission far bigger than the track. Through my 501(c)(3) nonprofit, FitToMove Inc., I’m raising awareness for Parkinson’s Disease, specifically focusing on the mobility challenges faced by those living with it. By combining my passion for automotive engineering and motorsports, with a cause close to my heart, I hope to make a meaningful impact. I stripped out unnecessary parts, upgraded the suspension, designed and wrapped the car in a custom livery, and shared every step of the process through my blog and Facebook. This project is made possible through the generosity of donors and sponsors, with all proceeds going directly to charity!

About Me

Hi! My name is Maya Brandt, and I am a senior at Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill. I love cars, robots, and horses! When I'm not at the track or in the lab with my FTC robotics team, you'll probably find me at the barn, on the ski slopes, or reading a book. My favorite book is The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
